Tessipes: Mint Juleps
equal parts sugar (I used some raw sugar cubes, which were jammin) and water
bunch of fresh mint, gently washed
squeeze of lemon, lemon wedges
as many shots of bourbon (or whiskey) as you can fathom stomaching, plus 2
crushed ice
In a saucepan, stir water and sugar together until sugar dissolves. Add tons of mint, smooshing with a spoon. Bring to a boil and let boil for a minute, stirring frequently. Remove from heat, strain, and allow to cool for 10-30 minutes. Rinse some glasses and throw ‘em in the freezer. Get out your cocktail shaker, a thermos, etc and fill with crushed ice. Add bourbon, lemon juice, and your strained sugar/mint syrup. Shake it up. Fill glasses with crushed ice, pour your drank over it, garnish with mint sprig and lemon wedge and go to town.
